Just returned from Virginia State Reading Association (VSRA) conference, and came home invigorated, energized and ready to get to production with my next games. The enthusiasm and reaction surrounding the games was overwhelming. Sold lots of Go-Fish for Building Work Knowledge playing cards, and also collected lots of emails from teachers who want to know when the games I had there as samples will come out.
But, the more note worthy aspect of this conference was the privilege I had to listen to so many teacher stories. Hearing their stories of praise, struggles, rewards, faith, and “that one child I need to reach” was the highlight of my time there as an exhibitor and fellow teacher. The overall sense of optimism and hope among these hard working Virginia teachers was truly moving and inspiring. A lesson we hope to bring back to our own students.
